The 46th Annual Connole Classic fishing trip began with a heartfelt tribute to Nunzio “Nelson” Pontillo, as close friends gathered to honor his life and legacy.

Around the dinner table, stories and memories were shared, reflecting on the many ways Nelson touched the lives of those who knew him.

On August 4, 2026, his ashes were spread in the Sea of Cortez, where his spirit will forever remain. And with each passing year, as friends and family return to these waters, Nelson will be there to welcome them back and guide them toward the big fish.

Rest in Peace, Nelson.
